In her letter to you, Jacki’s younger sister Jessi talked about a song I had written titled Spiderman. It’s a parallel between the superhero and a follower of Christ. Both had a life-altering experience that gave them power & destiny, but also a burden of responsibility. Sometimes that responsibility to live for the sake of other people can take it out of us and break us down, especially at those moments when the bottom just drops out on your personal life and you still find yourself smack-dab in the middle of a crisis of faith. In moments like that, many Christians choose to bury it because to express uncertainty, disappointment, and doubt is not very “Christian”. But sometimes what we really need is to just fall apart and to have a friend who’s shoulder we can soak with our tears. That’s what this song is about.
